What do we organize?
Throughout the year, we organize several activities. These activities are all meant to stimulate students and companies to get in touch with one another. Obviously besides exploring the career possibilities, we would like to create an environment where students and companies can get to know each other for future cooperation. The following list describes the activities we’re organising throughout the year.
Each year, DOT organizes two Company Days. On this day up to 12 companies can present them selves to all the offshore students. To interested companies we offer a choice to participate with a stand or to give a presentation aswell during this dayfilling program. In between the presentations, students can make a walk through the different stands where they can get acquainted with your company. During past Company Days we have seen that often deals for internships, thesis projects and job opportunities are made here.
Dates for this year’s Company Days are:
- December 16th 2016
- May 11th 2017
This evening enables more personal contact with a select group of serious offshore students. 5 companies will have the chance to present themselves and get to know 25 students who will switch places in between courses. See the Company Dinner page for extra information and let us know if you’d like to attend this evening.
These are full day trips to a yard or an offshore vessel. Former excursions have been to heavy lifting and pipe lay vessels, jacket load outs and so on. On site, usually a lecture about the project is given after which a site tour takes place. Obviously the program is different at each company depending on what they have to show. In general we try to plan our excursions in such a way that students get to see all the different aspects of the Offshore Industry.
Every 2 years, an international, 2 week Study Tour is organised. On this tour several companies, construction yards, museums and offshore vessels are visited. Former Study Tours went to Norway, Singapore & Brunei, the Gulf of Mexico,China & Korea and Malaysia. Last Study Tours destination was Brasil (2012). We organize these trips to show our students the vast differences in working environment and obviously interest them for a job at the companies we visit. Upcoming Summer (2017), DOT is again organizing a Study Tour to a still unknown location.
During the years in between Study Trips, DOT organizes an offshore symposium. The date of the next symposium will be announced soon.
